Cheers brave fella!

A tribute to Clifford Giles, who, after a long, courageous battle with cancer, passed away peacefully on 3rd February 2024 with Corrina by his side. He was, and still is, deeply adored by all who knew him. We know so many of you have fantastic memories of his fabulous life and we have created this as a place where you can share them with all who love him. Especially to those of you who grew up with Cliffy in the Islands and those who shared many outrageous times in Australia, the UK and all over the world, we can’t wait to see your photos and hear all the (shareable) funny stories. This is not the place for sympathy, it’s a place for you to post messages, upload your favourite photos, videos & music, share anecdotes and hopefully many funny stories. We hope this will be a source of comfort and laughter for us all as we remember the exceptional man that he was. His children Toby and Chloe will be especially grateful for your memories, so they can truly see what a sensational man their dad was and how deeply he was loved. Thames Hospice lovingly cared for Cliff in the last days of his life and it was his wish that any donations you may want to give in his memory go directly to them. This page gives you an easy way to donate to support the exceptional work that the hospice do for families such as ours. With much love and thanks The Giles Family.

Cliff was probably the only man I ever knew that when he asked how you were he actually meant it. He would want to know everything you’d been up to, how was every member of your family he knew and would remember everything you’d ever told him about them and yourself. How many people can you say that about? He adored his own family and was so proud of Chloe and Toby and loved telling me about what they were up to. His love and admiration for Corrina shone through, even when we were acting our worst 🤣. The laughs we had are ridiculous. When he walked in to the room you knew the party had started. I remember going to our first school ball together and the theme was Arabian Nights. So we all decided to dress up as Arabs and Hareem ladies only to turn up and realise everyone else was in black tie. A theme apparently doesn’t mean fancy dress! He was the first up for a game, limbo, dance, whatever and always last to stagger home. We still have the hole in the hedge (the Giles gap) after Cliff spectacularly fell into and disappeared. It took us all a while to find him. It was always a relief to know he’d managed to find his way home from ours, sometimes with the help of the police, but usually just bloody good luck. God Cliff we won’t half miss you. An absolute legend and wonderful man. We love you and are honoured to call you a friend xxx

Sitting here this evening talking about the fella with Paula. The chat is about what a lovely guy Clifford The Man was and shall remain. In the 35 years we never had an argument, disagreement, or cross word with him or him with us. He was just a happy chap talking, listening, explaining, excepting of other opinions and views. Oh! Except about Aussie cricket and rugby. He'd get grumpy at an Aussie loss but forgotten in no time. We love him and always will remember his any excuse to laugh.
